The first National Park east of the Mississippi River. This is where a rocky granite coastline meets the salty tides of the Atlantic Ocean. Many marine animals live in the tidal zones. Forests of evergreen and sugar maples, which turn brilliant red in autumn, are home for white-tailed deer, red foxes and many kinds of birds.
